I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into your hand: you didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast you very heavily laid your yoke.

5 Sit you silent, and get you into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for you shall no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

6 I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into your hand: you didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast you very heavily laid your yoke.

7 And you saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: that you didst not lay these to your heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.

8 Therefore hear now this, given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in your heart, I , and none else beside me; I shall not sit a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
